Peridot
Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one colour: basically an olive green. It is a type of Olivine. The intensity and tint of the stone can vary depending on its crystal structure. The origin of the name is uncertain but is likely to come from the Latin paederot, a kind of opal, meaning "gem". Peridot is the only gemstone found in meteorites.
